Debra – Office Manager
Debra studied business in college, taking many additional classes and training in the dental business world. Debra has been working in the dental field since 1986. She enjoys working with Kim so much that when Kim bought her practice here in Ann Arbor in 2005, Deb decided to commute from Eaton Rapids 4 days a week. Debra says this is the best decision she ever made!
Debra has a lot of dental knowledge and can answer your questions regarding treatment and insurance. She strives to care for our staff as well as for our patients. Debra loves the positive atmosphere in the office where everyone is always smiling. She loves being part of a great group of people who want to improve the dental health of our patients. Debra loves dentistry and management — she is a hands-on manager. Debra is easily recognized by her cheerful voice and enthusiastic attitude.
Debra is originally from Illinois and moved to Michigan when her husband accepted a position here. Debra and her husband have three great children and two grandchildren on the way. The family has a beloved dog named Sabre. When not at the office, Debra loves to kayak, ride her Harley motorcycle, and cooking. She also loves being out in nature with her dog.
Jennifer – Patient Care Coordinator
Jennifer is relatively new to the dental profession. We were lucky enough to come across her résumé when we were adding a part-time position to our business office. She accepted a position here in May of 2010 and has fit in perfectly ever since. Jennifer is the first face and voice our patients see and hear. She assists patients in understanding their insurance benefits. Jennifer loves working with people and enjoys making everything flow smoothly. She has picked up the dental “jargon” and is invaluable helping Debra with the many different aspects of the dental office.
Jennifer and her husband of 20 years, Dan, have two children: a son and a daughter. Her family also has a dog and a cat. When she is not at the office, Jennifer enjoys watching her children play sports, camping, and reading.
Keisha –Registered Dental Hygienist
Keisha graduated from Wayne County Community College in 2005. She also has a manicuring license and a culinary arts degree. Keisha has been a part of our office since January 2014. Keisha contributes to our success with her friendly personality. She enjoys making our patients feel comfortable. Keisha loves working here with coworkers who are very caring and family oriented. Keisha and Tom have been married for seven years. They have two sons, eight-year-old Bobby and two-year-old Quinn. In her spare time, Keisha loves spending time with her family, watching movies, and cooking.
Laura – Dental Assistant
Laura graduated from the Dental Assistant Program at Lenawee Vocational Center in 1985. She is licensed in radiography through the Michigan Dental Association (MDA). Laura has been a dental assistant for the last 20 years. She said that after taking a dental assisting class in high school, her mind was made up. She started working for Dr. Emerick in this location about 18 years ago. Laura says that when Dr. Karey bought the practice in 2005, she was lucky enough to stay on working for her.
Laura does office maintenance and calls herself “Ms. Fix It.” Laura loves working with all the patients and staff. She feels like this is her home away from home. When you hear laughter in the office, it is probably Laura making someone feel at ease before their appointment. She has a great talent for calming patients. She is also a top-notch assistant and is always ready for anything the dentist sends her way. We are very fortunate to have her as part of our office family. Laura is happy to drive an hour one way to work because she truly loves her job and the people she works with. They are family to her. We laugh, cry, and argue just like a family, but at the end of the day, they are her sisters. This is a great place to work!
Laura is married with two adult sons, one stepson, one stepdaughter, and two dogs. There is a lot of action at her house. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, fishing, boating and billiards.
Maria – Registered Dental Hygienist
Maria started working for us in January of 2008. We were very lucky she came into our lives. She is such a breath of fresh air. Maria is energetic, fun loving and always ready to go the extra mile for her patients and co-workers. Since Maria has been working with patients for so long, they trust her opinions and recommendations. She loves working with all kinds of people, gaining their trust and making a difference in their smiles. The patients seem to love her just as much as we do. Maria loves the relationships she has formed with her patients and coworkers. Maria and her husband Dan have a dog and a cat. When not in the office, Maria loves travelling, backpacking, hiking, photography, and yoga.
Erika – Dental Assistant
Erika has been a dental assistant for ten years and has worked with our practice since January 6, 2014. She loves working at our office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, because we have awesome dentists and team and the patients are friendly. This is a great place to work. Erika and her husband Daniel have two children, 19-year-old Jake and 17-year-old Alex. The family has two dogs, Romeo and Oskar. In her spare time, Erika enjoys working out, eating food, and golfing.
Cindy – Registered Dental Hygienist
Cindy earned her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Michigan. She earned her master’s degree in Education from the University of Michigan. Cindy has been working in the dental field for 30 years and with our practice since January 2008. Cindy contributes to the practice by providing patients with her professional, knowledge-based care. This helps establish and retain a trustworthy relationship with them. She enjoys her work and feels she learns something from every patient in the practice. Cindy enjoys her colleagues and helping her patients care for their oral hygiene. Cindy has had a hand in training some of the dental hygienists practicing in the area while she was a Clinical Instructor at the University of Michigan Dental School. Her patients all think she is the greatest. Cindy’s two children are college graduates and are working in their chosen professions. Cindy has a six-month-old golden retriever. Her personal hobbies include knitting, gardening, and baking.
